L. Frank Baum wrote this story about Santa Claus in 1904. The Danish publisher Escho released the Danish translation in 2024 with illustrations by John Kenn Mortensen.

“Julemandens liv og eventyr” (The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus) is the story of how Santa Claus became who he is today. It is equal parts fantasy, fairy tale and Christmas story written by L. Frank Baum, who is also the author of the immortal classic The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. He is today considered the greatest American fairy tale writer.

An infant is left in the magical forest of Burzee and is found by the World's Great Forester. The child is adopted by the forest nymph Necile and is named Claus. He grows up in the forest among magical creatures, but when he becomes a teenager, he is introduced to the human world, where he experiences problems, poverty and unhappiness. He leaves the forest and settles down in the Laughing Valley, where he decides to help the humans. He begins a toy production that makes the children of the surrounding towns happy, but soon he is enemy number one of the vicious monsters the Awgwas, and they vow to kill him. Suddenly, the whole world is in the middle of a huge war between good and evil.
