BLACKLANDS – When Darkness Feels Like Home

There’s something magical about opening our doors to BLACKLANDS. Twice now, our shop has transformed into a world where black isn’t just a color, it’s a mood, a statement, and a gathering point for people who, like us, find beauty in the shadows. Curated by the brilliant Mariam Zakarian, BLACKLANDS brings together artists who dare to explore the raw, melancholic, and mysterious sides of creativity.

The first time we hosted BLACKLANDS, it felt like the shop was breathing differently. Suddenly, we were surrounded by creepy creatures, chaotic prints, mythic landscapes, and photographs that pulled you into another universe. The energy was intense in the best way—curious neighbors, dedicated collectors, and friends all mingling, drawn together by a shared fascination with the dark and the beauty.

The second round of BLACKLANDS was even wilder. More artists, more perspectives, and the collaboration spilled beyond our own walls.

Now, we have chosen to place the exhibition BLACKLANDS in Gallery Ørn, where Mariam continues her curating. But we keep BLACKLANDS in the shop where it lives on as a catalogue - both physically and in our webshop. Dive in and you’ll find oh so many shades of darkness. We’re genuinely proud to have helped create a home for BLACKLANDS, and we can’t wait to see where this journey takes us and our community next.

: at the moment, the catalogue presents great and intriguing artworks by Nona Limmen, who is a Dutch visual artist whose photography conjures a world steeped in gothic symbolism, occult mystique, and shadowed beauty. Her work feels like a whispered spell. Each image is a portal into a realm that blurs dreams and nightmares, weaving melancholy with empowerment. Limmen’s art seduces with its stark contrasts: ethereal femininity entwined with the grotesque, delicate forms cloaked in omens and darkness. It is an invitation to explore the hidden recesses of the psyche, to embrace the strange and the sublime, and to find solace in the shadows

: soon Inken Stabell will join her. She crafts haunting worlds through the delicate brutality of etching; raw, enigmatic, and steeped in quiet intensity. Her work explores the fragile line between beauty and decay, weaving haunting imagery with a sense of timeless solitude.
