BETSY AND THE MUTANT SCOUTS is the story of fat overlooked Betsy's battle against a platoon of mutated monster scouts.

At least we think. For the authors have not yet come that far with their continuous story, which until now has been published as parts 1, 2 and 3.

Betsy is an overweight and clumsy girl who goes to scout camp in an attempt to win her father’s love. It turns out she’s a terrible scout, and she is bullied and ridiculed by Leo, the big, strong scout leader. One day, a nuclear power plant near the camp explodes, transforming Leo and all the scouts into ravenous, brain-dead mutants. But Betsy escapes the transformation, and now she must fight back and save the world.

An adventurous body-horror drama for all ages.

It's funny, disgusting, touching, and has high production value, but is especially interesting because it successfully incorporates animation into its comic book narrative. This is a Danish comic that can and wants more than a lot! In particular, it will tell us the story of nasty, mutated boy scouts and the hero we didn't know we needed; fat, forgotten Betsy.

DANSKBetsy er en overvægtig og klodset pige der tager på Spejderlejr for at vinde sin fars kærlighed. Det viser sig at hun er en elendig spejder og hun bliver mobbet og latterliggjort af den store stærke spejderleder Leo. En dag sprænger et atomkraftværk tæt på spejderlejren i luften og forvandler Leo og alle spejderne til frådende, hjernedøde mutanter. Men Betsy er gået fri og hun må nu tage kampen op og rede verden. 

Et eventyrligt bodyhorror drama for alle aldre.

Den er sjov, ulækker, rørende, og har høj production value, men er især interessant fordi den vellykket indarbejder animationer i sin tegneseriefortælling.

Her er tale om en dansk comic der kan og vil mere en masse! Især vil den fortælle os historien om klamme, muterede spejerdrenge og helten vi ikke vidste vi havde brug for; tykke, glemte Betsy.

Tor Fruergaard graduated as an animation director from the National Film School of Denmark, 2010. Together with Sissel Dalsgaard, he was behind the comic BETSY AND THE MUTANT SCOUTS, which received two Ping Awards.
